Italy will participate in the American lunar program

Representatives of the US and Italian governments signed a cooperation agreement within the framework of the American lunar program Artemis. This was reported by the press service of the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). The agreement was signed on September 25 during an online meeting between NASA head Jim Brydenstein and Italian government spokesman Riccardo Thracaro. The signed agreement will become a new chapter in the history of successful cooperation between the United States and Italy in the field of space exploration, Jim Brydenstein emphasized. The general director of the Italian concern Leonardo Allesandro Profumo said that specialists from Italy will participate in the development of landing and inhabited lunar modules. He added that thanks to this agreement, more than 1 billion will be attracted to the space industry in Italy. The NASA Artemis program provides for the launch of a manned mission to the moon in 2024. At later stages of this program, it is planned to create a long-term inhabited base on the moon. As previously reported by the news agency, in July, representatives of the United States and Japan signed an agreement on cooperation in the framework of the moon exploration program and other projects in space.
