Uzbekistan canceled excise tax on car imports

In Uzbekistan, from August 1, excise tax rates on the import of vehicles produced in Russia, Kazakhstan and Ukraine were canceled. The corresponding decree was previously signed by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. Prior to the entry into force of the document, Uzbekistan levied an excise tax on the import of cars in the amount of 2% and VAT of 15% in accordance with the free trade agreement within the CIS. Earlier, the news agency reported that since 2017, Uzbekistan has phased out or canceled excise taxes on the import of goods of a wide range from the CIS countries. In particular, the decrease related to the import of commercial vehicles, steel products, food products and building materials.
