Test pilot Stepan Suprun was born in 1907 in the village of Reki (Belopol district of Sumy region). He graduated from the Smolensk School of Military Pilots. In 1940, he was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union for his participation in the fighting against the Japanese. He died on July 4, 1941 near the village of Monastery (Tolochinsky district of Vitebsk region). He was posthumously awarded the second Gold Star Medal.
