Consumer prices in Belarus increased by 4.5%
The consumer price index for goods and services in Belarus for January February increased by 4.5% to the level of the same period last year. At the same time, products became more expensive by 3.9%, non-food products by 3.8%, and services by 6.7%, the official message of the National Statistical Committee of Belarus reads. The consumer price index for goods and services in February 2020 increased by 1% compared to January, from December 2019 by 1.9%. Belstat noted: The basic consumer price index excluding the change in price for the separate goods and services subject to influence of factors of administrative and seasonal nature in February, 2020 in comparison with January, 2020 was 100.3%, with December, 2019 100.9%. Compared to February 2020 with February 2019, the consumer price index (inflation in annual terms) increased by 4.4%. At the same time, prices for food products increased by 3.7%, for non-food products by 4%, and for services by 6.3%. At the same time, Belarusian exports amounted to 83.4%, and imports 84.4% of the level of January 2019. We also remind that, according to Belstat for 2019, inflation in Belarus increased by only 4.7%. Such calculations are strongly disagreed with by Belarusian consumers, who complain about a multiple of higher prices based on the expenses of their households (personal inflation).
